Raise the bat for the Hundredth time

I am happy that my third consecutive post in my blog is about Sachin Tendulkar. I couldn’t stop writing this on my wall as Sachin is yet again close to the most talked about milestone of the year. Will he or will he not hit this milestone century is something which is being discussed all around the globe for last 9 months now. I wish him good luck and hope to see him raise his bat for the hundredth time. I just can’t wait for the day 4 of the test match to start.

Sachin Completes 22 Years in International Cricket

22 Years back this is the day when the world has seen the start of the career of the most patronized cricketer in the world. He is the player who has scored avalanche of runs and broke all kinds of records in batting. The player who has mastered and invented so many batting techniques has been the best connoisseur in all forms of cricket. He is the player who stooped in front of all kinds of attacks and have shown his dominance. His impudence as a youth is still untarnished even after all these years. For more than a billion Indians and many more all over the world, its been a life time experience and joy while for him its a blink of the eye and every match is a fresh start.

He is none other than Sachin Tendulkar, the cricketing god. November 15th 1989, Sachin made his debut against the arch rival Pakistan. At that point no one would have even thought in their dreams that the then 16 year old kid would make it so big. He has been with the team for 22 years now and has groomed many other legends along with him.

At this juncture of his life and career, I wish him more and more matches, runs, centuries, records and most important a happy family life.

15000 Test Runs by Sachin Tendulkar

If at all there was always a new feather added to the cap when they say “a feather in the cap”, then Sachin would have been wearing a big feather cap. As everyone knows that the maestro has already have all the known batting records in cricket has yet reached another milestone in his glittering career.

During his 33 on the day 3 of the test between India & West Indies, he has crossed the new milestone of 15000 runs in test matches. He is now almost 2000 runs ahead of his next highest rungetter Dravid. But the only disappointing factor during this match is that his fans has to wait for yet another match to see him reach his Century of Centuries.

Addicted to XBOX 360 Kinect

We spent almost 90% of this weekend’s time on XBOB 360 Kinect. Friday evening Surya called me and asked if it was a good idea to buy a new XBOX. He knew that he asked the wrong person and he also knew that I would give the answer that he likes. I was totally excited with that immediate thought and left office early to buy one.

We already bought 5 Games CDs and we are not sure where this addiction will take us to :).

L.Subramaniam & Kavitha Krishnamurthy in Singapore

Even though I am not a big fan of classical music, I get a chance to hear them every now and then for the sake of Surya. This weekend was part of the yearly Kala Utsavam at Esplanade, Singapore. Surya being a big fan of classical music wanted us to come for the musical night.

L. Subramaniam, the great Indian Violinist and his wife Padmashri award winner Kavitha Krishnamurthy were performing on Sunday. We all went to Esplanade by 7.15 PM. The show started exactly at 7.30 PM. The first one hour was very entertaining from Raagas to Bollywood songs sung by Kavitha Krishnamurthy. The second hour was totally for the maestro L. Subramaniam’s violin & fusion.

Kavitha Krishnamurthy sung started off with a song on Ram and then sung her beautiful songs from Bollywood. L, Subramaniam started off slowly and then he & his son showed their talent by competing with each other. The fusion music was awesome.

We were very lucky to meet them and take their blessings after the show.

Hong Kong & Macau Trip Dairy – 1

Its been more than a month that I have done the Hong Kong & Macau and did not write anything here. So I thought before I forget those minute details of the trip, I should pen them down.

To do the World’s highest bungee jump, I planned for this trip. There was a 4D/3N offer (Hotel Stay + Half a day city tour) to Hong Kong on Deal.com.sg website. Normally I book my travel using hostelworld.com. As we do not like spending time in hotels while we are travelling, we tend to book cheap yet comfortable hotels. But this time I misunderstood the offer and booked a little costly hotel in Tsing Yi island. At that point, I had no clue what was in store for me.

As I had no idea what to do and see in Hong Kong, I requested my colleague who had been there to suggest some places to see. He suggested the places and I also went through different websites and did some research about all the places which would interest me. After 3 days of rigorous search and discussions with various people, I finalized the places of interest.

Day -1 : Arrival to HK, The Peak, Madame Tussauds Museum, Avenue of Stars

Day -2 : Ngong Ping Gaint Buddha, Repulse Bay, Stanley Market, Waterfront Promenade at Wan chai, Ozone Sky Bar

Day -3 : One day trip to Macau

Day -4 : Mid lands escalator, Disney Land, Exploring Hong Kong Airport & Departure to Singapore

This was just the second trip in last 3 years where only Swetha & I went for the trip. It was an awesome trip with great experiences. I would write down the details in my future posts.

Tips: Best way to explore Hong Kong is by MTR (Metro Rail Station) using Octopus Card and on foot. You can also get good Foreign exchange in Hong Kong. Hong Kong currency will work in Macau also.
