Addicted to XBOX 360 Kinect

We spent almost 90% of this weekend’s time on XBOB 360 Kinect. Friday evening Surya called me and asked if it was a good idea to buy a new XBOX. He knew that he asked the wrong person and he also knew that I would give the answer that he likes. I was totally excited with that immediate thought and left office early to buy one.

We already bought 5 Games CDs and we are not sure where this addiction will take us to :).

L.Subramaniam & Kavitha Krishnamurthy in Singapore

Even though I am not a big fan of classical music, I get a chance to hear them every now and then for the sake of Surya. This weekend was part of the yearly Kala Utsavam at Esplanade, Singapore. Surya being a big fan of classical music wanted us to come for the musical night.

L. Subramaniam, the great Indian Violinist and his wife Padmashri award winner Kavitha Krishnamurthy were performing on Sunday. We all went to Esplanade by 7.15 PM. The show started exactly at 7.30 PM. The first one hour was very entertaining from Raagas to Bollywood songs sung by Kavitha Krishnamurthy. The second hour was totally for the maestro L. Subramaniam’s violin & fusion.

Kavitha Krishnamurthy sung started off with a song on Ram and then sung her beautiful songs from Bollywood. L, Subramaniam started off slowly and then he & his son showed their talent by competing with each other. The fusion music was awesome.

We were very lucky to meet them and take their blessings after the show.

Long Hiatus

Its been quite a while that I wrote anything here. You can blame it on Work, Laziness and travelling. After this hiatus what made me write this post is yet another weekend activity.

I & Surya was discussing during the week that we have to take a break from activities and rest at home. Everything was going as planned until Saturday evening when Nagaraj came home and asked us to get ready to chill out at Arab Street. Even though Surya was not keen in coming we somehow convinced him and left home by 8PM.

We have been to Arab Street the previous week too and we liked the Bazuka Cafe on Ophir Road. So we thought we shall go to the same place as some of the members were not available during the last visit. Before entering Bazuka Cafe, we thought we shall have some food.

We went to Haji lane and entered some random Turkish restaurant and ordered Lavash breads with Babaganush, Cacik, Humus, Saksuna, Ezme Salad and some Turkish drink. We entered Bazuka Cafe by 9.30PM.

Ordered Long Island Iced Tea (which is made of Tequila, Vodka, Gin, Rum and Contreau) and Margarita along with Green Apple Seesha. The music was awesome and we ordered multiple rounds of drinks along with some Chicken Wings and Chicken Shawarma. It was around 1AM that everyone was on high and we started dancing in that little bar for the wonderful dance music (LMAO mixes and Pitbul mixes) being played.

It was raining outside and we did not realise that the time was already 2.30AM. We need a signal from someone or somewhere to understand that its now time to leave. Right at that spot Praveen dropped the seesha and that became the point where we payed the bill and left the place.

As it was totally for Nagaraj that we were out today we went to Clarke Quay at that time (3AM) on his request. We entered Rupee Room and danced as if no one were looking at us. We all totally lost control and were enjoying all the songs and the stupid steps that we were doing on the dance floor. It was 5.15AM that I realised we have to leave and then we left the pub.

We got the taxi after a long wait and then as it was already 6AM, we went to Airport to have our breakfast. We had sumptuous breakfast at Anand Bhavan and came home at 7AM. Even though I slept for 6 hours I am still feeling very sleepy at 8PM in the night.

I hope you all had a great weekend and I wish you all have a great week ahead.

Movie Mania

This weekend was one of those weekends where I was very relaxed without any work and tension. Its been a while that I had seen any movies and I decided I should make most of this weekend.

I started off on Friday by watching the movie X-Men First Class. It was a nice movie as the other movies in the series. Came home late night and asked Swetha if she would watch X-Men. As she hasn’t seen the movie earlier she accepted my offer and that’s when the movie mania started. Starting there I have seen below 14 movies this weekend.

X-Men First Class
Final Season
Alice in Wonderland
Chalo Dilli
Tanu Weds Manu
Percy Jackson & The Lightning thief
Scott Pilgrim vs The World
Sexy Beast

I also played 4 hours of badminton. This weekend it was really competitive and hope that continues. After this wonderful weekend, till date my week is going on great and hope this month goes the same way :).

Busy Months

Its been busy two months on both personal and professional front and I was unable to write anything on my blog wall (Wall? .. Thanks to FB :)). So what happened in last 2 months and what kept me busy .. Here we go:

– Raghav (my elder bro) came to Singapore with his friends and stayed at my place. Even though the stay was just for the weekend, we had a great time.

– Hectic Project work getting on to my nerves. I have been kind of leading a project taking care of all the technical aspects. There have been some goof ups from my side and in return gifted me Late night working

– Nagaraj’s family was again in Singapore after almost a year. This time even though we did not travel anywhere we were quite busy in Singapore.

– I have been playing Regular cricket matches and attending practice sessions. I have been following all the IPL matches, even though they were less interesting this time.

– The new craze in town for our group is badminton. We have been playing badminton every weekend without fail and we are enjoying it.

– There is one surprise, I haven’t seen enough movies in last 2 months. I hardly saw any new movies as these activities kept me quite busy.
– Because of my bro, Nag’s family & birthdays almost all the weekends have turned to party nights.

– This summer, we have done lot of activities right from bowling, pool, wake boarding to ice skating.

– Oops last but not the least Swetha’s resigned. She is happy to leave the organisation and all those shifts which took a toll of her health.

Ice Skating at Kallang Leisure Mall

I have always been fond of Ice and Snow capped mountains. I never got to go to those places being in Southeast Asia. Last week Swetha mentioned about Ice skating in Singapore. I was surprised to hear that and thought we have to do that. Last Friday all I & Swetha along with my other regular gang members went to Kallang Leisure Mall where they built an Ice Rink inside the mall.

Even though the mall was not so good, I was impressed with the size of the rink and quality of the rink. It was very cheap and was only 14 dollars for 2 hours of skating. My first Ice Skating Experience was awesome and I loved it.

Wonderful Day

Today has been very eventful. We played Badminton for more than 3 hours in the morning and one hour in the evening. As today is Super moon, we wanted to go to any beach and see it. In Singapore what else can we think of other than ECP. We went to ECP had an excellent time enjoying the Romantic & Bright looking moon. We then went to Arab street where we enjoyed the hukkas & kebabs along with belly dance. Surya and Nagaraj were very sportive and have done a great job to dance along with the belly dancer at Ambrosia at Arab street

What happened in last one month?

– Parents came to Singapore (Travelled around Singapore, Travelled to Malaysia and Indonesia)
I will write more on this in future posts. I had a great time with mom dad and definitely missed my bro who was supposed to join us. It was like a total culture change for me and Swetha as the activities in absence of parents is totally different to what we did in presence of my parents. This change has come has a welcome and was very refreshing from the routine that we have adopted. Not only to us but also to mom & dad it is a very new experience as they have done many things which they have not done in all these years of their life.

– Cricket World Cup 2011 has started with a bang
The much awaited and anticipated world cup has started and started with an entertaining and high scoring match between India & Bangladesh, the host nations. This time world cup has been very entertaining with high scoring, low scoring, close and one-sided matches. It had all the flavors of the game. With just half the way through there are already many records broken and I am hoping for more and more. I wish India all the best and good luck to other competitors.

– Annual Appraisal
This is the best and worst appraisal I had in my career. Best because I have been told about all the good work I have done and heard all the good comments about my attitude and commitment towards the work. I am sure this is what everyone at every appraisal would hear. Anyways after all this good talk when the month end came and it was salary time, I was told that there is no hike and no bonus for this year. That was totally disappointing but good for me in one aspect. This has ignited a reason for me to start preparing and leave the company ASAP.

– Anniversary & Birthday
February 14th, Valentines day and it was my second marriage anniversary. I & Swetha were very happy as we spent quality time with mom & dad. March 4th, my birthday was also total fun with all the friends coming home and my parents presence has added flavor to it.

Other than this there has been lot of parties and weekend outings and not to mention lot of work.

Rain Rain Go Away

Its been raining at irregular times and intervals for the last 2 weeks in Singapore. We have planned for camping this weekend I don’t want rain to spoil the whole plan. The first thing that came to my mind was the rhyme which I learned as a kid.

Rain Rain Go Away, Come Again Another Day

Hope to have a great weekend.

Nice Weekend

All these days I have been busy because of one project and one tough user. Frankly speaking had a tough time at work last one month. I felt this weekend was great and relaxing after a long time and hence thought it was worth sharing with everyone.

Friday Nagaraj gave his birthday (which was actually on Apr-8th) party at Khalsa Club (Our favorite hangout place for long time because of its nice food and sensible rates). While coming back home we bought a carrom board and were ready for action. We played till 2AM and went home.

Saturday started off with some nice food and then went on playing carroms and watching movies. In the evening, thanks to Santosh, we all started running. We ran for around 3KM and then walked for 3KM. On the way back we went to Harry’s had couple of beers and had dinner.

Sunday early morning I, Swetha & Surya left for cycling in the Pasir Ris Park. We did cycling for around 10KM and then went to friends room had nice lunch and went home to sleep. In the evening again I, Swetha, Nagaraj, Santosh & Amarnadh went for cycling. This time we went to Changi Village and the total track was 20KM. On the way back it was very nice experience to pedal the cycle in the rain. As it was raining we decided to have some nice pakodis along with couple of drinks. We went home had egg burji and pakodi along with beer.

At the end, the weekend was over with Deccan Chargers winning the match and earning a place in Semis.
